About

Hotep (Peace)!

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Florida African American Student Association, Incorporated (FAASA).  The Board of Directors and I are excited about your visit and welcome the opportunity to introduce our organization to you.  If you are a current or past member, or someone who has visited our website before, welcome back and many thanks to you for your continued interest and support.

FAASA, the only known organization of its kind, serves as “the official voice” of the more than 90,000 students of African descent enrolled in colleges and universities throughout the State of Florida.  Our standard membership is comprised of chapters of Black Student Unions/African Student Unions at post-secondary institutions.  In addition, Associate and Alumni membership options are available to supporters who qualify.  Our primary objective is to promote the academic and leadership skills of our members through the implementation of our PACE Plan which cultivates Political Activism; Academic Excellence; Cultural Awareness, and Economic Empowerment.

I am honored to serve as the president of this wonderful organization and I appreciate your vote of confidence. This year is certain to be one of significant growth for me, as for so many others.  Over our 36-year history, FAASA has impacted the personal growth and professional development of countless Brothers and Sisters who now give back through their roles as physicians, attorneys, judges, educators, spiritual leaders, entertainers, entrepreneurs, and other respective endeavors.  FAASA provides a nurturing environment to mentor all who will accept it and work to maximum their full potential.  I challenge you to open your minds, your hearts, and your Afri-centric nature to embrace the possibility of becoming the best you!

We look forward to seeing you at our Fall Leadership Institute, our Winter Political Summit on Capitol Hill, and our Spring State Convention.  We also encourage you to join our pilgrimage Home to The Motherland in the summer of 2012.  Full details and updates concerning our trip to Ghana, West Africa will be posted to this site as they develop.

As you can see, FAASA takes seriously its commitment to identify and address issues of particular concern to today’s college and university students of African descent.  We welcome your active membership, participation and support as we advance our mission of “building tomorrow’s leaders today.”   If you have questions or concerns, or if I can assist you or your chapter in any way, please feel free to email me at: president@faasaweb.org.    I look forward to seeing you soon!

Best Regards

Kristian Hill, President
