Annual Africa Study Abroad Program 2018: Senegal & The Gambia

July 28 - August 9

Have you always longed to visit the Motherland?  Well, now is your opportunity to do just that!

We welcome you to join us as we journey to two of the most exciting countries in West Africa, where different cultures and religions exist in harmony and peace —SENEGAL and THE GAMBIA.  This two-week tour allows you to explore the rich history and traditions of both countries through lectures by experts and excursions to major points of interest. In Senegal, the gate to Africa, you will visit such sites as the University of Cheikh Anta Diop in Dakar; Goree Island, including the “Door of No Return”; the Pink Lake; Saint Louis, first capital of Senegal; The Holy City of Touba with its Great Mosque; a Mandinka Village and more!! In The Gambia, the smallest country in Africa,  you will tour its capital city, Banjul, and visit such sites as Juffure Village, home of Kunta Kinte, ancestor of Alex Haley;  the “tye-dye” factory; the Arch 22; as well as  galleries, museums, cultural centers and open air markets in both countries.
